About

Giselle Castro Brightenburg is a Dallas based artist whose vibrant paintings are deeply inspired by the natural world and a vast international upbringing. Born in Brazil, she lived in Rome, Italy, for six years, where she attended elementary school and absorbed the region's rich classical and visual history. Her artistic journey took a pivotal turn while living in South Korea, where she took her very first painting lessons from a local instructor who spoke no English, a profound experience that taught her to communicate purely through visual language, color, and form. This diverse global background heavily informs her current aesthetic, blending cross cultural perspectives into her work.

Giselle holds a BFA from the University of Dallas and an MA in aesthetics from the University of Texas at Dallas. Over the years, her work has been showcased in several notable exhibitions, including solo shows at the Irving Arts Center, Brookhaven College, and the Longview Museum of Fine Arts, where one of her pieces remains part of the permanent collection.

While building a career as the digital media manager at the Dallas Museum of Art and dedicating time to raising a family, painting became less central to her life for a period. However, her creative passion reignited recently, leading her to complete more than 100 new works over the past two years. Giselle’s paintings are held in numerous private collections, and she continues to expand her global artistic practice from her studio at the Art on Main gallery in Dallas.
